Don Henley - Boys Of Summer, live @ Wachovia Center, June 3, 2005
Backstage I have been helping myself to massive amounts of catered food, and leeching wireless internet. Ocassionally running to Home Depot or Best Buy to pick up various items for Jesse, the road manager.
Holy shit girls are totally screaming! They love Don Henley so much!
I worked the same job for Snoop Dogg/The Game a few weeks ago, and there were half as many people in attendance. How is that possible??
Snoop was amazing. There was a huge banner behind him saying "Tales From The Crip"; he played a bunch of covers, including Tupac songs AND Biggie songs. The Game threw $2,000 cash into the audience. Everyone backstage was beautiful and just stepped off the set of a rap video.
Woah, tons of moms just jumped up in their seats upon hearing the opening guitar riff of "Life In The Fastlane." One with poofy blande hair is playing air guitar really intensely!
9:44 PM
Waiting for Stevie to get ready, I ponder the question, what would life be like without music and comedy? Or without Nicks and Henley???
9:59 PM
Stevie Nicks is wearing a witchy dress and has witchy black scarves adorning her mic stand. She is also prone to enhancing her vocals with witchy waves of her hand. The guitar player is going nuts with the volume pedal fade-in chords!
"Heartbeat" is a really good song!
Stevie Nicks - Heartbeat, live @ Wachovia Center June 3, 2005
The drummers are surrounded by a clear plastic wall, which looks very futuristic.
Stevie just left the stage to change outfits.. after two songs?? Her poor piano player is left alone in the spotlight to serenade us with sad new-age lullabies.
10:08 PM
One person is currently waving a lighter for "Rhiannon."
I never knew Stevie Nicks was so witchy! She has a pretty 'mystical' stage presence, and I think I have a crush on her!
10:12 PM
Oh no, Don Henley is back onstage for a duo. Boooo! What a weiner! It looks like if the high school's star quarterback and the mousey goth girl started dating.
(FYI: the moms are really losing their shit over this).
10:16 PM
In a life without comedy, I wonder what this music would sound like. Without this music, I guess the Flyers would be playing? This music definitely doesn't owe much to comedy, but moms waving their arms definitely does.
Seriously, though: Don Henley is presently crooning eyes-closed, his mind completely void of humor; but then why is he smiling at Stevie between verses? Is he just happy to be there with her, or is he nearing enlightenment?-- No, no, he is definitely smiling at a comedy existing only between him and Stevie. Don Henley's comedy only exists when he's not singing music! Life without either comedy or music would be OK for him, but without both he would probably collapse. I do know that without comedy I would probably be crying right now.
10:28 PM
Stevie is wearing a different black shawl now, and is spinning in circles during the instrumental break. I am very impressed by the coordinated high-kick/light flash.
Holy shit more new age piano solos.. I need some fresh air.
10:33 PM
Wait.. Stevie now singing solo in black velvet dress, with soft focus black and white video playing on huge screens of her reenacting Beauty & The Beast with a totally fucked up looking monster. They are both running through a castle in Victorian garb. Princess Stevie looks in a mirror and her face turns into the monster's. Now the monster is rubbing his cheek with white fur. I am glad humor exists or else I would be pretty freaked out.
10:38
